Beam final imports to the U.S. were down 4.3% year to date (YTD), year on year (y/y), totaling 501,057 tons for the eleven months ending November 2017. For the month of November, Beam imports totaled 16,416 tons down 64.0% from the YTD average of 45,551 tons.

Rebar final imports to the US were down 23.1% year to date (YTD), year on year (y/y), totaling 1,513,517 tons for the eleven months ending November 2017. November rebar imports were 60,304 tons, 56.2% lower than the YTD average of 137,592 tons.

Rebar licenses through January 11th totaled 77,193 tons, well down, (91.5%) from the January 2016 level of 200,442 tons. Straight lengths accounts for all of rebar licensed import thus far this month. Overall rebar import licensed tons in 2017 were lower than in 2016.

Merchant licenses, (representing 10 HTS codes), through January 11th totaled 17,458 tons, down 57,176 tons or 76.6% from last year’s 74,635 tons. Overall merchant import licensed tons in 2017 were higher year on year.

Total SBQ licenses through January 11th totaled 6,951 tons, down 27,343 tons or 79.7% from last year’s 34,294 tons. Overall SBQ import licensed tons in 2017 were 16.4% higher year on year. The 2017 total was 535,811 tons, 75,581 tons more than the 460,230 ton level in 2016.

Wire Rod licenses for the month of January through the 11th, totaled 12,324 tons, 78.7% lower than the 2016 volume of 137,204 tons. Overall wire rod import licensed tons in 2017 were 1.5% lower than in 2016.
