U.S. Steel Rebar Final Imports: Final rebar imports to the U.S. came in at 104,626 tons for the month of June 2021, up 12% m/m. Mexico was the largest exporter of rebar with 30,703 tons this month (29%). Spain was the second-largest exporter with 22,675 tons. Italy was the third-largest rebar exporter to the U.S. with 16,307 tons (their highest export tonnage since July 2019).

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 27,581 tons for June 2021, up 51% since last month. When looking at the current year, we see that beam imports reached their peak in January with 27,997 tons of imports reported, just slightly above this month’s number.

U.S. Fabricated Beam Final Imports: Final fabricated beam imports to the U.S. came in at 47,843 tons in June 2021, remaining flat month over month (m/m). Canada was the largest exporter of fabricated beams with 15,555 tons this month (33%). The Laredo, TX port was the largest receiver of fabricated beams, receiving 7,269 tons.

­­U.S. Steel Capacity Utilization: The total tonnage for the week ending July 31st was 1,876 million net tons, at a capacity utilization rate of 85.0%. The year-to-date tonnage output is 55,223 million net tons, at an average capacity utilization rate of 76.2%. In 2020, the same output total was 45,810 million net tons, at an average capacity utilization of 66.7%.

U.S. Steel Merchant Final Imports: Final merchant imports to the U.S. came in at 42,236 tons in May 2021, increasing 11% month over month (m/m).
