U.S. Steel Rebar Final Imports: Final rebar imports to the U.S. came in at 65,937 tons for the month of December 2021, down 50.7% m/m. Mexico was the largest exporter of rebar with 31,324 tons this month (48%).
U.S. Steel Merchant Final Imports: Final merchant imports to the U.S. came in at 41,578 tons in December 2021, decreasing 15.5% month over month (m/m). Mexico was the largest exporter to the U.S. with 20,021 tons.
U.S. Fabricated Beam Final Imports: Final fabricated beam imports to the U.S. came in at 53,946 tons in December 2021, decreasing 7.5% month over month (m/m). Mexico was the largest exporter of fabricated beams with 14,535 tons this month (27%)
U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 22,917 tons for December 2021, down 41% since last month. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 11,186 tons this month (49%).
­­U.S. Steel Capacity Utilization: The total tonnage for the week ending January 29th was 1.796 million net tons, at a capacity utilization rate of 81.6%. The year-to-date tonnage output is 9.030 million net tons, at an average capacity utilization rate of 82.0%. In 2021, the same output total was 8.539 million net tons, at an average capacity utilization of 75.7%.
