Rebar final imports to the U.S. came in at 61,469 tons for the month of October 2019. Rebar imports include: concrete reinforcing bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel, in irregularly wound coils hot-rolled, concrete reinforcing bars and rods of other alloy steel, not further worked than hot-rolled, hot-drawn or extruded, and other bars and rods iron or non-alloy steel, hot-worked, concrete reinforcing bars and rods.

Figure 1 further breaks down total final rebar imports from January 2019 – October 2019. When comparing year to date figures, it shows that beam imports peaked in May 2019 with 148,848 tons of imports reported.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the US in rank order through October 2019. Spain was the largest exporter of rebar with 27,603 tons in October 2019. Italy was the second largest exporter with 14,463 tons. Mexico was the third largest rebar exporter to the US with 13,711. Together these three exporters accounted for 90% of the total.

Miami, FL port was the largest receiver of U.S. rebar in October 2019, receiving 22,599 tons. Houston/Galveston, TX port was the second largest receiver coming in at 18,736 tons.
