U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 34,010 tons for June 2023, up 82% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2022 – June 2023.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through June 2023. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 18,852 tons this month (55%). China was the second-largest exporter with 5,679 tons. Luxembourg was third with 3,255 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 82% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Los Angeles, CA port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 12,425 tons. Houston-Galveston, TX was the second-largest receiver coming in at 7,908 tons. Tampa, FL was the third-largest receiver coming in at 4,513 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 73% of all U.S. beam imports.
