U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 45,075 tons for February 2023, up 13% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – February 2023.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through February 2023. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 28,894 tons this month (64%). The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the second-largest exporter with 4,549 tons. Luxembourg was a close third with 4,048 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 83% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Houston-Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 18,376 tons. Los Angeles, CA was the second-largest receiver coming in at 6,450 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 5,735 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 68% of all U.S. beam imports.
