U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 44,535 tons for March 2022, up 50.2% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – March 2022.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through March 2022. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 27,894 tons this month (63%). Mexico was the second-largest exporter with 5,926 tons. The UAE was a close third with 5,682 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 89% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Los Angeles, CA port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 17,585 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the second-largest receiver coming in at 8,586 tons. Houston-Galveston, TX was the third-largest receiver coming in at 7,981 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 77% of all U.S. beam imports.
