U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 21,746 tons for January 2022, down 5% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – January 2022.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through January 2022. Luxembourg was the largest exporter of beams with 8,120 tons this month (37%). Mexico was the second-largest exporter with 5,204 tons. The UAE was a close third with 4,357 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 81% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Philadelphia, PA port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 4,698 tons. Tampa, FL was the second-largest receiver coming in at 2,968 tons. Pembina, ND was the third-largest receiver coming in at 2,710 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 61% of all U.S. beam imports.
