U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 25,865 tons for April 2021, up 180% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Angles H Sections Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – April 2021. When looking at the current year, it shows that beam imports peaked in January with 27,997 tons of imports reported.

Figure 2 also charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through April 2021. The U.A.E. was the largest exporter of beams with 10,531 tons this month. South Korea was the second-largest exporter with 6,743 tons. Mexico was the third-largest beams exporter to the U.S. with 5,153 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 87% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Boston, MA port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 10,531 tons. Houston-Galveston, TX was the second-largest receiver coming in at 4,490 tons. Los Angeles, CA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 3,083 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 70% of all U.S. beam imports.
