US Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Beam final imports came in at 4,792 tons for June 2020, down significantly from May’s 32,613 tons. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Angles H Sections Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – June 2020. When looking at the current year, it shows that beam imports peaked in February 2020 with 40,308 tons of imports reported.

Figure 2 also charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through June 2020. Mexico was the largest exporter of beams with 2,147 tons in June; South Korea was the second-largest exporter with 1,227 tons. Canada was the third-largest beams exporter to the U.S. with 1,065 tons.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. through June 2020. The El Paso, TX port was the largest receiver of beams in June, receiving 1,050 tons. Pembina, ND was the second-largest receiver coming in at 1,034 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 879 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 62% of all U.S. beam imports.
