ISM Non-Manufacturing Index: The Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing index decreased by 2.3 points month on month (4.1% m/m) to 54.4 in October 2022.

ISM Manufacturing Index: The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index moved down 1.4% (m/m) to 50.2 for October 2022; this value is stronger than the forecast of 50.  The new orders sub-index scored a 49.2. Overall, the ISM manufacturing index is strong, while the global economy is beginning to strengthen again following shutdowns throughout Covid-19.

U.S. Manufacturing Capacity Utilization: Manufacturing capacity utilization (MCU) reached 79.96% in September 2022, +0.32% month on month (m/m). On a year on year (y/y) comparison, the MCU was a modest +2.75%.

ISM Manufacturing Index: The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index moved flat month on month (m/m) to 50.9 for September 2022; this value is stronger than the forecast of 50.  The new orders sub-index scored a 47.1. Overall, the ISM manufacturing index is strong, while the global economy is beginning to strengthen again following shutdowns throughout Covid-19.

U.S. Manufacturing Capacity Utilization: Manufacturing capacity utilization (MCU) reached 79.58% in August 2022, flat month on month (m/m). On a year on year (y/y) comparison, the MCU was a modest +2.48%.
