ISM Manufacturing Index: The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index moved down 0.6% (m/m) to 48.4 for December 2022; this value is weaker than the forecast of 50. The new orders sub-index scored at 45.2. The ISM manufacturing index is on its second month of contraction in factory activity as Americans are shifting spending away from goods to services.

U.S. Manufacturing Capacity Utilization: Manufacturing capacity utilization (MCU) reached 78.94% in November 2022, -0.68% month on month (m/m). On a year on year (y/y) comparison, the MCU was a modest +0.27%.

ISM Non-Manufacturing Index: The Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing index increased by 2.1 points month on month (3.9% m/m) to 56.5 in November 2022.

ISM Manufacturing Index:  The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index moved down 1.2% (m/m) to 49.0 for November 2022; this value is weaker than the forecast of 50.  The new orders sub-index scored at 47.2. Overall, the ISM manufacturing index is strong, while the global economy is beginning to strengthen again following shutdowns throughout Covid-19.

U.S. Manufacturing Capacity Utilization: Manufacturing capacity utilization (MCU) reached 79.51% in October 2022, +0.07% month on month (m/m). On a year on year (y/y) comparison, the MCU was a modest +1.50%.
