Construction Put-in-Place, (CPIP): Total U.S. construction spending continued to perform well in December 2021, especially in the private sector. Census Bureau non-seasonally adjusted (NSA), constant dollar CPIP data showed that December’s three month total (3MT) construction expenditures grew by 9.8% year on year (y/y) to $407.4 billion. On a 12MT basis, private expenditures advanced 15.2% y/y, state & local decreased by 0.8% y/y, and federal spend decreased 7.8% y/y.

Architectural Billings Index: December 2021’s national Architectural Billings Index of 52.0 was up 1.0 points from November’s 51.0, which is within the expansionary zone, (>50). U.S. architecture firms specializing in multifamily residential and commercial / industrial facilities all reported an increase in design activity in December.

December 2021
Construction Put-in-Place, (CPIP): Total U.S. construction spending continued to perform well in October 2021, especially in the private sector. Census Bureau non-seasonally adjusted (NSA), constant dollar CPIP data showed that October’s three month total (3MT) construction expenditures grew by 11.6% year on year (y/y) to $434.0 billion.
Architectural Billings Index: October 2021’s national Architectural Billings Index of 54.3 was down 2.3 points from September’s 56.6, which is within the expansionary zone, (>50). U.S. architecture firms specializing in multifamily residential and commercial / industrial facilities all reported an increase in design activity in October.
November 2021
Construction Put-in-Place, (CPIP): Total U.S. construction spending continued to perform well in September 2021, especially in the private sector. Census Bureau non-seasonally adjusted (NSA), constant dollar CPIP data showed that September’s three month total (3MT) construction expenditures grew by 12.1% year on year (y/y) to $431.5 billion. On a 12MT basis, private expenditures advanced 14.3% y/y, state & local increased by 0.8% y/y, and federal spending decreased 7.8% y/y.
