U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 36,609 tons for March 2024, down 24% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2022 – March 2024.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through March 2024. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 23,706 tons this month (65%). The United Kingdom was the second-largest exporter with 4,497 tons. Mexico was third with 3,249 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 86% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Los Angeles, CA port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 13,338 tons. Columbia-Snake, OR was the second-largest receiver coming in at 3,984 tons. San Francisco, CA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 3,509 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 57% of all U.S. beam imports.
